Bedales in concert with Southern Pro Musica

Sopranos and Altos of the Bedales Cecilia Consort will join with the Southern Pro Musica orchestra in a performance of Pergolesi’s beautiful Stabat Mater conducted by Jonathan Willcocks at Saint Peter’s Church, Petersfield on Friday 11 October 2013 at 7.30pm.

Southern Pro Musica is widely acknowledged as the leading freelance professional orchestra based in the south of England. Since its inception in 1991 to provide first-class professional support for choral societies in the area, the orchestra has developed a strong performing profile through its own concerts.

There are plans for Southern Pro Music to work closely with students from Bedales in the future, providing opportunities for solo and ensemble master classes as well as concert platforms on which Bedalian singers and instrumentalists will be able to perform alongside professional musicians.

The concert in Saint Peter’s Church signals the formation of that association. Sixth Form Music scholar, Callum Anderson, will be the soloist in Handel’s F-major Organ Concerto.

Tickets for this event may be booked from the Tourist Information Office in Petersfield Library or by phoning 01730 268829.
