Bringing darkly comic children’s tales to life

The Bedales Winter Production, Shockheaded Peter, is inspired by Improbable’s famed take on Heinrich Hoffmann’s darkly comic tales for children – the sort of tales that entail gruesome death-by-fork, to discourage fidgeting at the table. Our student company started work in September with no script, just the Hoffmann tales. After meeting the specially created puppets, they set to work devising the whole show, including new songs, composed and performed by student musicians. Modern parents may wish to take a view on whether the very youngest children, even those with imperfect manners, should be exposed to these tales. Free tickets from or 01730 711511.
