Pupils from Bedales Pre-Prep, Dunannie are proud to be showcasing their art and design work at their first ever public exhibition in the Bedales Gallery. Entitled It All Starts Here, the exhibition is a collection of creative work across all areas of the curriculum, from drawing and painting to textiles and sculpture. Open to all, the exhibition will run until Friday 9th May.
Children from Nursery up to Year 3 have been working hard over the past academic year to produce work for the exhibition. Some pupils have been inspired by their studies of Artist Paul Klee (1879 – 1940) who explained art in engaging ways, such as, ‘a line is a dot that went for a walk’.
Commenting on the children’s work, Jo Webbern, Head of Dunannie, said: “We are incredibly proud of the work the children have created and it was lovely to observe their reaction as they saw their work on display in the Bedales Gallery. The Gallery has featured collections from world renowned artists, painters, sculptures, photographers and designers, so to be given the opportunity to showcase the creative work at Dunannie is wonderful. Many of our former pupils have successfully developed their artistic talent through Bedales and beyond. Recent Bedales artist graduates have studied at art colleges such as University of the Arts London and the Ruskin School for Drawing and Fine Art at Oxford University. Old Bedalians include, product designer Anna Bullus; fashion designer Zoe Graham and sculptor James Napier. It is our belief that artistic flair is present from a very early age and can quickly develop into a talent that will remain with them for life when their creativity is inspired. We hope this exhibition will be the first of many in future years at Dunannie.”
It All Starts Here is open until the 9th May (Monday to Friday 2pm – 5pm; Saturday 10am – 1pm; closed Sunday; open Bank Holiday Monday.
